Not just professional development, but much more!
In this course you will...
- Develop and implement plans for moving through the "pandemic" era band teaching. We will discuss ways in which we can use what we've learned about teaching during a pandemic to better position our programs moving forward while learning to effectively use technology in the band room.
- Learn why creating engaging video content for your students and parents will be a necessity going forward and how to create videos quickly.
- Learn how to use audio tools such as a digital audio workstation to enhance your in-person instruction by quickly creating rehearsal backing tracks and individual student practicing tracks (because playing along with a metronome is boring...)
- Create interactive lesson boards that will free you up to focus your instruction where it is need (like in the trombone section to keep that 5th position straight). These interactive lesson boards will keep you and your students on track during rehearsals to maximize your rehearsal time and student engagement.
- Get an introduction in to one of the most powerful virtual, hybrid or in-person teaching tools that will revolutionize the way you think about sub plans. Nearpod makes creating interactive lessons and assessments a breeze and your students will be engaged on a level like never before!

Most school districts give principals a budget for teachers to pursue professional development. Districts provide teacher professional development however, much of it is not relevant to teaching band.
I have been able to have special professional development (like this course) paid for by my school simply by asking. Most of the time principals love to know that their teachers are seeking out their own professional development opportunities in order to gain more insight and sharpen their teaching skills.
